Cultural Artefact:

Italian Television Performance from 1982

I am a multidisciplinary artist working across animation, drawing, painting, and sculpture.

My practice explores metamorphosis and the shifting boundaries between bodies, landscapes, and living systems. I work across analogue and digital media, and I approach animation as a form of visual research.

Dharma - Plastic Doll

What I was drawn to:

Bodies (individual vs collective)

Choreography and uniforms

Music - Joyful, kitsch, camp…. Visual world…

Artificial environment

Enormous mushrooms

Out-space fantasy….

Inhabitant or new species of an invented world…

What the song is actually about

Control

Artificiality

Identity

Emancipation.

AESTHETICS AND EARLY ELECTRONIC / VIDEO EFFECTS

Combination of real set (mushrooms) and analogue video techniques.

»The technology participates in producing the world.

» It’s an 1982 imagination of technological FUTURITY, and we’re watching it from INSTAGRAM in 2026…

COVER IDEAS:

  1. Choreography as control

What happens when the body stops following the score? It introduces control/agency without the lyrics.

  2. Copy degradation

By repeating the same figure over and over, from the previous one; errors accumulate, until the figure becomes another species or until it becomes something that can no longer be understood as an individual.

  3. The body as temporal accumulation.

  4. The choreography as biological phenomenon.
